The decade fashion borrowed and re-used

So as we embark on a new decade i would like to share with you some of the highlights in fashion we have seen over the last 10 years. From skinny Victoria Beckham in her tight fitting dresses, to the outrageous outfits or costumes (however you see fit) of Lady Ga Ga; there is no mistake in saying the decade has been well...different.

I say a big thank you to the role models of women who dared to step the line and dress in what suited them and never kidding themselves with trends that just weren't them. I am talking about the likes of Alexa Chung who cut her hair gorgeously short and presented herself with grace, dressing herself and not letting designers dress her. Fantastic.

Also since the UK was badly hit by the recession, even celebrities have encouraged charity shops as the new Dolce and Gabanna. Sienna Miller, the queen of Boho chic, thriving on the hidden goodies that are tucked away in charity and vintage shops. Not to mention the instant bargain that we all can safely say we have found and treasured.

The size zero coming and going as quickly as most of the X factor winners careers, we can now relax. It is ok to eat a large pizza to yourself and not feel guilty. Miranda Kerr and other celebrities raised the awareness of how the size zero trend is the ultimate death wish. Now we can all eat happily and well in the knowledge all sizes are accepted.

Lady Gaga, quite possibly the biggest and strangest singer known to this decade. Catchy tunes and daring clothing....i guess fashion really has no limits. This star, getting to number one on numerous occasions has proven self expression is definitely a key thing to show in your fashion, wear what is good for you, just remember to wear a little bit more than Miss GaGa, it is illegal to be almost naked in public. Sorry.

Have to say this decade has also seen fashion trends rise from the ashes. Wet look leggings, head bands, full length leggings, neon (for the daring!), cropped tops...it is amazing how these key items teamed with something brand new to the noughties become a whole new item. I think it is amazing that we can relive such fine things from the past.

This is just a snippet of what has occurred in the fashion world in the way of changes. Next decade i predict more bargains, thrilling outfits from the GaGa and i guess things that we just never would have imagined wearing will dominate the catwalk and highstreets.

So i will finish by saying Merry Christmas and a Happy New Decade x

Sweden topping fashion!

I was just browsing the world wide web and stumbled on the Teen Vogue site. I am lacking in money therefore had to feed my fashion addiction somehow. Clicking on "style report" it came up with a slideshow of swedish girls dressed in their everyday wear. I was shocked. The most amazing kind of fashion i have seen in a long time!

It has inspired me to take pieces from my wardrobe that i may not wear that much anymore and put it with some fairly new things (i bought before i entered the overdraft). The swedish are very into their H&M but this is no suprise as it is a scandinavian, high street store. Teaming their outfits with cute vintage pieces just makes them look amazing. On every girl featured in this slide show, they all have at least one bold piece of clothing such as a baby blue cardigan making a statement with neutral toned clothes.

This feature on the website has made my day, my week and my winter wardrobe. From now on i am looking to the swedish for fashion tips.....oh and maybe next years holiday!

Spend less, look amazing.

So the credit crunch is getting you down and you just want to cheer yourself up?

Well this is sure to make you smile! Fashion high street stores such as Primark and Peacocks, are soaring in profit. Now that the credit crunch is hitting us where it hurts the most, our purses, good value high street stores are the place to go. Just because an item didn't cost a whole months wages, does not mean it won't look good.

Celebrities have started to feel the blow and shopping in local high street stores. Even Victoria Beckham was seen in Peacocks!
Take inspiration from celebrities such as Fearne Cotton, and Alexa Chung. Most of their clothes and fashion inspirations come from small vintage shops and charity shops and they still look like they've just walked off the catwalk. You're donating to chairty as well as looking good, what can be so wrong in that?!

Or if this doesn't take your fancy, then try out London Fashion Week and the Clothes Show Live in Birmingham. Companies sell their clothes at ridiculous discounts at these events and on the last day, you're sure to grab a bargain.

This season is the season to wear your personality on your sleeve and laid back is the new uptown chic. So if you've never looked in a charity shop or you're hooked on your designer obsession, break the habit. You can still achieve your look but at cheaper prices and it won't break the bank.

bracelets, beads, beads and more beads!

Forget what the celebrities are wearing these days, self expression is the ultimate trend of the season. Whether you're into your skinny jeans or just can't bear to live without your wet look leggings, there are always ways to make the trend "your look" by adding something quirky to your style.

Take your favourite piece of clothing and style it with jewellry. No matter how plain your outfit may look, adding a necklace or chunky bracelet will vamp up your style in no time. And don't be afraid to go too big with your accessories, a chunky bracelet or a set of smaller ones is just the extra touch to make your outfit different, for every occasion.

Don't forget to also try using more formal accessories with casual clothes. It'll make your outfit more tidied up and definitely adds a bit of glamour during the day. Pearl beads are a good option to choose if you want to play safe but still have your individual look in tact.

So stop worrying about pricey clothing, begin to invest in accessories. It's cheaper, beating the credit crunch and makes each garment become brand new all over again. What's a girl not to like?!
